About this item: In a meeting of cultures, natural Mayan jade combines with the om symbol, which represents peace and tranquility in Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Two oms are crafted of sterling silver, surrounded by petite beads of light green jade at the top and beads of dark green jade at the bottom. Two tiny sterling feathers dangle at the bottom of each earring. Guatemalan artisan Nicté Milhose designs the dangle earrings.
About our Artist: Nicte and her pieces are characterized by their quality and by their innovative designs. This journey began with my dad. Both of us are from Brazil, but we began living in Guatemala more than ten years ago. We feel totally Guatemalan at heart; Guatemala is full of wonderful, warm, and helpful people. When we lived in Brazil, my dad started creating pieces from bamboo. Living in Guatemala, my dad searched for other alternatives with a view to continue making jewelry items, and he came across the wonderful thing about silver and jade. I used to be more inclined towards the design aspect, and together we began creating marvelous pieces. When Im in my workshop, my mind soars, and my designs revitalize my life. I had all the time thought of showing my pieces in different parts of the world, but used to be never able to bring it to reality. With my pieces, people all over the place can see the wonderful thing about Guatemala and hold in their hands a piece that is 100% handcrafted with a large number of dedication and love. I am fortunate to have this ability….
