This kalevala necklace / pendant is inspired by an old Finnish symbol found in Finnish mythology. The symbol use to be painted or carved on houses and barns (but were also used on on a regular basis items) to offer protection to the landlord from evil spirits and bad luck. The oldest example found is a pair of 1000 year old wooden skis that was once decorated with the symbol. It´s hand forged and made with traditional methods out of iron. It´s made with burnt linseed oil as coating to forestall rust and to get this pretty black color.
